MP – Case 2

•Mr. Hubert Blaine Wolfeschlegelsteinhausenbergerdorff Sr. is seeing you in clinic today for follow-up.  He holds a history of HTN and is taking 2 blood pressure medications to keep it well-controlled.  He is struggling to remember to take both medications every day and is hoping you can help simplify his regimen.  His regimen has been well controlled on both medications.

.

•Medications:

•Amlodipine 5mg

•Benazepril 20mg

.

•Simplifying a medication regimen can be challenging (and your options limited).  Removing unnecessary medications is an option; however, in this case, the patient is well controlled on his drug regimen.  There might be a combination medication where 2 pills become 1, and both medications can still be used.

.

•Go to GoodRx.com

•Type one of his medications into the list and look for options separated by “/” (example XYZ/ABC).  This is a combination pill, and might be helpful.

.

•Does a combination pill exist for Mr. HBW Sr?

•A) Yes

•B) No
