•She is a 40 y/o female with no significant past medical history. About a week ago she struck her leg against the coffee table. The pain was brief and she didn’t think much about it; however, she’s noticed swelling of that leg, sensation of fullness, and some color changes. For these reasons, she presented to the clinic for assessment.

•Exam shows:
•Vitals: Temp 98.6F; BP 120/80; HR 80; RR 16; Wt 100kg
•Left leg is red, swollen, and somewhat tender. The right leg is largely unremarkable.
•Her most recent labs were unremarkable, including renal function (creatinine)

•You suspect a DVT and send her for a stat US. The result comes back to you quickly, and confirms a DVT of the left leg.
•You would like to start treatment for her condition with Eliquis (apixaban), but wish to double check the regimen.
